Hello! My name is Peggy Crippen. Currently, I am the Pregnancy & Adoption Specialist for the Catholic Charities’ Salina office. Each day when I come to work, I strive to treat all people with the respect that they deserve and try to generally make the world a nicer place to live.
Through our pregnancy program, I work with pregnant mothers who would like some additional support through their pregnancy and early weeks of their infant’s life. When a mother expresses an interest in placing their infant for adoption, I work with her to ensure that such a difficult decision is made with care and consideration. When in my adoption role, I work with couples interested in adoption to complete adoption home studies and through to adoption placement. Adoption is complicated, messy, and amazing. No two adoptions ever look the same just like no two families are exactly alike. It is humbling to see a birth parent and adoptive parent work together for the benefit of a tiny baby.
I have a master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology; both from Kansas State University. (Go Wildcats!) I have worked in the social service field for 25 years. During those years, I have worked in a community mental health center, an early education (Head Start) program, and on a military base. Though I love my career, my favorite all-time job is that of “MOM” to my children.
